England's players and manager expect a hostile reception from the home supporters at Wembley on Wednesday as they return to action following the 4-1 defeat to Germany in South Africa, with Capello having come under extra fire from the newspapers for failing to attend the recent Under-19 championships in favour of an extended break.
Chelsea defender Cole, who was apparently keen to leave for Real Madrid this summer, was also criticised in the tabloids as he allegedly said he was unhappy in England, and Bates - writing in his programme notes ahead of Leeds' Carling Cup victory over Lincoln - has made clear his unhappiness with the duo.
"Capello comes back refreshed after his month-long holiday to tell us what we all knew," he wrote.
"Namely that England were crap and there will be changes - but he still includes 'Cashley' Cole, who has publicly stated that he hates England (and the English). I suppose Cheryl thinks the same about you, Cashley."
